Ephrata Beverage Logo Design

Brief: Design a logo for Ephrata Beverage Beer Distributor that reflects the products they sell in a modern, vintage style.

I sat down with Jordan Shultz, the owner of Ephrata Beverage and discussed what they wanted the logo to reflect and a few ways that I could illustrate those goals. Incorporating a bottle cap in the primary logo was one feature he felt was important, along with a clean, vintage feel. I designed a primary and secondary logo that would work on different products and signage. All of the text was hand lettered by me—no fonts were used.

Process: Once I learned what Ephrata Beverage’s goals were and what they wanted the logo to reflect, I sketched a variety of examples that included the bottle cap, and the text “Ephrata Beverage” and “EST. 1998”. After showing Jordan the first round of sketches, we agreed that adding a hop would be beneficial because it would give people a general idea of what they sell, while also adding more interest to the logo.
